BACKGROUND TO THE GREAT PINK RUN

The Great Pink Run is an opportunity for all the family to support research into breast cancer.  Not only does breast cancer affect a woman personally, but it also impacts hugely on the entire network of family and friends.  This is an opportunity for everyone to show their support, knowing that they are helping in the Race For A Cure.

Breast Cancer Ireland’s goal is, through research, to transform breast cancer from being a potentially fatal disease to the status of a chronic illness that can be controlled long-term through treatment.  We currently are funding breast research nurses in each of the designated cancer centres of Dublin, Limerick Cork and Waterford.  Our goal is that, through this combined effort, all clinicians and scientists nationally will now have access to one centralised store of samples, ultimately helping to speed up the research effort in our Race for A Cure!

The Great Pink Run is open to men, women and children and is a fun-filled day out for participants and spectators alike.

The Run itself takes place in the wonderful setting of the Phoenix Park, along a course which allows each participant the opportunity of attaining his or her personal best.
